The Emily Dickinson Museum: The Homestead and The Evergreens are two homes both closely associated with the poet, Emily Dickinson. The Homestead was Ms. Dickinson’s birthplace and her home for many years and The Evergreens, which is located next door, was the home of her brother and his family.
Spend the day getting reacquainted with Emily Dickinson and her poetry. Take a guided tour of the Homestead and The Evergreens, sit and listen to a 90-minute exploration of the Dickinson family life, highlighting Emily Dickinson’s life and work.
Two special tours: “This was a Poet” and “The Props Assist the House” are worthwhile as they delve into Ms. Dickinson’s poetry and the meaning of house and home to the Dickinson family in nineteenth-century New England society.
There is a self-guided audio tour of the museum’s grounds called “Grounds of Memory”. This audio tour, complimentary with your house tour ticket, features more than 30 Dickinson poems and takes into account the Dickinson family’s fascination with landscapes and nature.
