National Yiddish Book Center Hotels
The National Yiddish Book Center is located in Amherst, Massachusetts on the campus of Hampshire College.
Books, wherever you look, you will see books. Thousands of Yiddish books were being lost or destroyed – a culture about to be lost. These books were rescued from dumpsters and from buildings about to be demolished. They now reside here in Amherst, MA. The doors to the National Yiddish Book Center opened its doors in 1997, and it is becoming one of the more frequently visited Jewish tourist destinations in the US.
There are a host of special exhibits and programs that have limited seating: musical performances, readings, photography exhibits, films, lectures, workshops and dancing.
Visit the National Yiddish Book Center and browse the books in Yiddish and English! Take home a tshatshke or two – where else can you buy Juggling Matzah Balls or Yiddish Flash Cards?! Just remember, your mother would have bought something for you!
