It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood and you want to get out and explore – well, work your way over to the Norwottuck Rail Trail. This 8-½ mile path links Northampton, Hadley and Amherst along side the Boston & Main Railroad. The smooth pathway is perfect for pedestrians, bicycles, wheelchairs, skaters and joggers. In the winter months, the snow-covered path is a favorite among cross-country skiers!
Free parking is available at both ends of the park: Elwell State Park on Damon Road in Northampton and Station Road in South Amherst, while public restrooms are only available at the Elwell Recreation Area.
